2 Samuel 13-14

Scripture: (NLT)

2 Samuel 13:14 “But Amnon wouldn’t listen to her (Tamar), and since he was stronger than she was he raped her.”

2 Samuel 13:28 Absalom told his men, “Wait until Amnon gets drunk; then at my signal, kill him !”

Observation:

Hate, murder, lies, treachery, and rape all coming from the sons of King David. God predicted that David and his family would suffer because of his sin with Bathsheba and the murder he contracted of her husband Uriah. David was forgiven by God but the ramifications of his sin seem to be playing out with his children.  What Amnon thought was love was really lust and what Absalom thought was justice was cold blooded murder.

Application:

I need to guard my heart and mind against things that could enchant me away from my beliefs. I need to be prepared for consequences if I choose to sin. I need to realize that what I do in my life is watched by my children. Do I want them to reflect my sins or follow down a wrong path ? NO, I want to set an example. I want my children to see a woman who honors God, is not perfect, but is trying to live out her life in a way that is pleasing to Him.

Prayer:

Lord, You know my heart, you know my ways. See if their is any wicked ways in me and bring them to my knowledge so I can nail them to the cross.  I ask Lord that you guide me with your wisdom to make good and godly descisions.  I pray my choices benefit not only me but my children. I pray that my children will be faithful to you and you give me the stength to be a godly parent to them. I thank you for David. I am thankful that he sinned like me, repented, received forgiveness and still was called a man after your own heart. May I be a woman who seeks the same. Amen
