“But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.” I Kings 3:7 NIV
“I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.” I Kings 3:12 NIV
God asks what Solomon wants. He asks for wisdom.
Because Solomon doesn’t ask for wordly treasures, God rewards him with them anyway…riches and honor.
God promises Solomon that he will be the wisest man that ever lived…ever!
I’d say Solomon had some pretty good parenting.
This couldn’t come at a better time for me. I was just sensing today that I’ve been leading without God. I’ve been depending on my own strength, making my own decisions, leaning on my own wisdom. I’ve been leaving out God. Sure God is working through me and things seem to be going “great.” But how much more would God do if I utilized HIS wisdom? What if I looked for the miraculous instead of the expected? Better yet, what if I expected the miraculous? Results so mind-boggling that they could only be orchestrated by God, not me.
“Almighty God, I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. I need You. I’m ineffective without You. You are my Source, my Answers, my Guide. I need Your wisdom for every decision and choice I make. Give me the same wisdom You gave Solomon. Amen.”
