“He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men utterly fail, But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:29-31
God gives power to the weak, and we are all weak. Even young men shall faint and fall in their own power. God promises that if we wait on Him that we will mount up with wings like eagles.
As I thought about this passage I kept coming back to the word wait. The dictionary definition for the word wait is “to remain stationary in readiness or expectation”. Waiting means being patient, waiting means not relying on myself. WhenI have to wait its waiting for something outside myself. One doesen’t wait for oneself to get ready to go out for example. We wait for others. Waiting means relying and trusting, it means not knowing. It is in the unknown that we wait, for the person to be there for us, for the medical test to come back . God says to wait on Him, to trust that He will be there to renew our strength. God is patient and waits on me, I need to wait on Him. I need to be patient and not expecting instant answers or instant solutions.
Lord thank you for your willigness to be patient with me. You are the creator of everything and yet your so patient. Lord help me to wait to be as patient as you are, trusting you and not myself. Amen
