Exodus 12: 22-51; Job 30; Luke 15; 1 Corinthians 16

Scripture

“And you shall…” Exodus 12:22

“Then the people of Israel did so; just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.”  Exodus 12:28

“And it came to pass…” Exodus 12:29

Observation

Put lamb’s blood on your door and don’t go outside.  Seems ridiculous, but it was the command of the Lord.  God said it, they did it, and God performed a miracle. The Israelites were preserved.

Application

This reminded me of a story about Beth Moore waiting for a flight in the Knoxville airport when a man in a wheelchair rolled into the gate waiting area.  He was very old and had stringy gray hair that hung down below his shoulders.  While she read her Bible she began a dialog with God that began, “Please don’t make me witness to this man.”  But God said, “I don’t want you to witness to him.  I want you to brush his hair.” Beth commented that it is a scary thing to have the Spirit of God really working in you.  You could end up doing some things you never would have done otherwise.”  While the request by God seemed completely ridiculous, Beth got up from her seat, without a hairbrush and asked the man if she could have the honor of brushing his hair. Of course, since God has a sense of humor, the man couldn’t hear very well and Beth had to repeat her request several times at increasing volume which could then be heard by everyone around her.  The man allowed Beth to brush his hair with the hairbrush in his bag. After she finished brushing his hair she kneeled down and said to the man, “Sir, do you know my Jesus?” He said, “Yes, I do.”  He explained, “I’ve known Him since I married my bride.  She wouldn’t marry me until I got to know the Savior.”  He said, “You see, the problem is, I haven’t seen my bride in months.  I’ve had open-heart surgery, and she’s been too ill to come see me.  I was sitting here thinking to myself, what a mess I must be for my bride.”

I never know what the Lord has in store for me; He can ask from me what may seem ridiculous, but if I am obedient the results can be miraculous.

Prayer
Lord, may I be open to the ridiculous.  May I be obedient to Your requests of me that I may be a blessing where you send me.
