Num. 29, Psalm 73, Isa. 21, 2 Peter 2

What’s with the practice of posting song lyrics as your Facebook status?  Young people in particular seem to do this a lot… and it confuses me.  I suppose they hear a lyric and think,

“That’s me.  I could have written that.  That is EXACTLY how I feel!”

After reading Psalm 73, perhaps I understand a bit more.

“But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold.  For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.”
– Psalm 73:2-3

That’s me.  I could have written that.  That is EXACTLY how I feel!

In my life, God is using circumstances to teach me to redefine success.  And while my feet had almost slipped, I have learned to trust Him even more.  He is there even in the darkest times to help me keep my foothold.

“You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into your glory.  Whom have I in heaven but you?   And earth has nothing I desire besides you”
– Psalm 73:24-25

Lord God,
I praise you.  You are all-knowing and all-loving.  Thank you that you are faithful, especially when I faithfully step out of the boat.  As You continue to work in my life to show me the futility of every other pursuit, it is my prayer that I can one day say with complete honesty, “And earth has nothing I desire besides you”.
