I am overwhelmed, almost every time I read the Bible about it’s true consistency time and again. It just amazes me that a book written over a period of thousands of years and by many authors can be so true to the main point…Jesus is the Lord. He has overcome. He is our Savior.
__________
“When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.”
Deuteronomy 20:1
__________
In Isaiah 47, the fall of Babylon is predicted.
“You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me.’ Disaster will come upon you and you will not know how to conjure it away.” (vs.10-11a)
“Your nakedness will be exposed and your shame uncovered. I will take vengeance; I will spare no one.” “Our Redeemer – the Lord Almighty is His name – is the Holy One of Israel.” (vs.3 & 4)
__________
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say this – those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.”
Psalm 107:1 & 2
__________
“They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings – and with Him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”
Revelation 17:14
__________
So, when I’m caught up in the daily grind and feel discouraged and/or overwhelmed, I am reminded in His Word time after time that He is with me, He is my Redeemer, His love endures forever,He has overcome all evil and I am called and chosen by the Lord of lords and the King of kings. What an amazing thing!
Lord Almighty,
So often I get caught up in my own world, with my (really… insignificant) problems and feel discouraged. I tend to rely on myself to overcome, when You have already done it. What I really need to do is to continually dwell in Your Word, where You and the truth about You can be found on every page. You are worthy of all my praise!
Amen.
