God’s words are important.
Obey be blessed, disobey be cursed. Clear and simple. (Deut. 27 & 28)
God’s words are precious.
With my whole heart I seek you! Open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. My soul is consumed with longing! Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors. (Psalm 119)
God’s words are gracious.
“In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord, your Redeemer. (Is. 54)
God’s words are true.
…for so it was written by the prophet.
…this was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet.
…then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah.
…that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled. (Matt. 2)
God,
You are our Maker.
We are sojourners on the earth.
You are the God of the whole earth.
We want to seek You with our whole hearts.
You are the Lord, our Redeemer.
We want Your words to be our delight.
Teach us.
Deal bountifully with us that we might live and keep your word.
Amen.
Amen.
My soul is consumed with longing!
All of our souls are consumed with longing. Consumed with longing. The whole world seeks to find satisfaction for that longing. That ever pervasive longing that permeates the depths of every soul… Longing that can only be satisfied in Him. Only Him. Only His Word. We long, but we cannot be satisfied outside of Him. We have found this to be true. The psalmist states it precisely. Your testimonies are my delight. Lord let it be. Let it be. Let me remember this even for the entirety of this day.
Amen.
Ah, yes. The more I read the Word, the thirstier, more drawn to it I get. It never ceases to amaze my soul; bless my spirit. This causes me to long for blind eyes and deaf ears to be opened … to REALLY see; to REALLY hear. Oh, to be able to make the horse drink (“you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”).
Beautiful Prayer, this year the Lord has impressed on my heart to memorize His Word … a few scripture verses He has shown me … Col 3:16 “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly”. John 15:7 “If ye abide in Me, & My Words abide in you …” Deut 8:3 “fed with the manna to teach you that man does not live by bread alone but on every word that comes from the Lord” Psalm 119:11 “I have hid your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” I didn’t think I could memorize much at my age but I have been surprised at how the Lord has shown me to associate numbers to remember verses. The first verse I saw on Jan 1, 2010 Isaiah 12:3 “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation”. Wasn’t that a beautiful verse to start the new yr!! Previous month Dec (12) & the trinity (3), don’t u just lov how the Lord Jesus teaches us, because He delights in us!! Thank u for letting me share these thoughts with u, hope they are a blessing!! In His Precious Lov, Carol (like a Christmas Carol)
