1 Kings 14; Colossians 1; Ezekiel 44; Psalms 97, 98

3We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you…
5because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven…
9For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
~ Colossians 1

As I read these words I am somewhat envious of the Colossians and their receipt of such a letter from the Apostle Paul.  Paul took the time to send them this letter of encouragement, praying for them always and hoping for them to be filled with all spiritual knowledge.  I wish that I could get a letter like that from someone like Billy Graham or Charles Stanley.  Then my thoughts took me further and I realized that although I am not a famous evangelist or pastor, I am a minister of the gospel of Christ and that I can be an encouragement to those around me.

So, in this moment as I write these words, I give thanks for you, dear brothers and sisters in Christ.  I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ would bless you with increasing faith, strength and wisdom…10that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing knowledge of God; 11strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

Lord, may I be a minister of Your Word for Your saints.  May I be a light for You, encouraging Your children along the way.
