All throughout the Bible God uses man and nature to deliver His message to His people. Breathing words through their mouths His will is made known; through Moses God gives His instruction, His commandments and His promise to His people. Moses was Gods’ instrument from the beginning and although his faith waivers more in himself than God; he was obedient.
He made known his ways to Moses; his deeds to the people of Israel: Psalm 103:7
God uses Elijah to tell Ahab his kingdom would suffer without rain until further notice. We read how God uses ravens; them taking instruction from God and we witness their obedience as they bring bread and meat to Elijah. Then we read of the widow who by Gods will accepts Elijah words, through her faith and obedience she and her family were provided for.
For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: “The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord gives rain on the land.” She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah. 1Kings 17: 14-16
Paul’s letter to the Laodiceans instructs them to be devoted, watchful and thankful. Urging them not to grow weary in their faith, but to be in position and ready for when God does answer their prayers.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, to, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Colossians 4:2-3
How does God use me? How does God use others to minister to me? Am I listening?
Am I devoted? Is my faith strong enough to see and hear when I am called to be His instrument? Even the birds are obedient in serving God when He calls them.
Do I trust Him enough to know that He will provide everything I need?
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; Psalm 103:11
Father God, I know your love is endless; your grace and mercy abound. I pray my faith be strengthen, my eyes and ears stand watchful so I can serve others through your instruction, and that I remember to trust that you will provide me and my family’s every need. In Christ name. Amen
