In Luke today, watching scenes unfold from history from the vantage point of an office chair, second cup of coffee emptied.
The women finding a vacant tomb. Angels who visit. The disciples’ disbelief of the account. Walking along a road to Emmaus, Jesus revealed over breaking bread. Appearing to others in a room–received with shock and doubt to be replaced by great joy and amazement.
Several times he reminds that these things had to happen, had to be fulfilled. And they were fulfilled.

Remembering the God who keeps promises.
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Luke 24:44
Who says, “Peace.”
While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” Luke 24:36
Who opens minds.

You are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:45-48
And who fills, clothes and equips with the Holy Spirit.
Thankful, Lord, that you are trustworthy. Please open my mind to your work. Today, may I remember your promises, hold onto your peace, share the Gospel, and rely on the Holy Spirit–power from heaven. Amen.
