Gen. 4; Matt. 4; Ezra 4; Acts 4

Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is more than I can bear.  Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

But the LORD said to him, “Not so; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. ~ Gen. 4:13-15.

I have always found it amazing that from the very beginning God is so incredibly forgiving and merciful. I think it is one of the most enduring truths about our God.  That while our sins may grieve him, he will always love us.  He will always let us into His life and Peace.  It’s sad that there are so many people out there who think that they can’t have Peace because their lives are too full of sin.  I used to be one of those people.  It has taken me a lot of years, but I’ve been blessed to know the truth.  It is so simple. Believe and you are His.  No conditions – no catch –  just belief.

I will always be a sinner. No matter how hard I try, the enemy finds a way.  What is true, though is that Jesus died for my sins.  As long as I believe that and I am honest with God about my shortcomings, He will forgive me without condition.

Blessed Redeemer, thank you for your love and forgiveness.  I am not worthy for what you did for me that day on Calvary, but I am so very grateful.  In His glorious name I pray!  Amen.
