Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas.” John 1:42b
Which translates to Peter, which means rock. My study notes read: Peter was anything but a rock; he was impulsive and unstable. Jesus named him not for what he was but for what, by God’s grace, he would become.
When the world would say, “I know who you are: unstable and impulsive!” Jesus says, “You are … you will be …” Because of Him.
Lord, you take what is impulsive and unstable and transform it into rock. Your red letters stand out still and call come and follow me. Your words of greater things to Nathanael cause me to smile. I am so grateful that you see beyond who I am today to who I am (becoming) because of grace. All for your glory.
