Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”
Recently, my daughter came to me with a small problem. This one was simple to fix and I quickly told her what she needed to do.
I am amazed, as a parent, how often I get to draw great analogies between my relationships with my daughters and my relationship with God.
My daughter would rather be miserable than make a small, simple change that would fix her problem. It is easy for me to see the foolishness of her choice, but how often do I behave foolishly as well. Despising God’s holy wisdom and discipline I muddle along thinking of myself as wise.
Heavenly Father, humble me. Teach me to make wise and disciplined choices. Help me to be patient and loving to those around me when they do not do the same.
