Lev. 16; Ps. 19; Prov. 30; 1 Tim. 1

A friend of mine, who is an authentic believer, said to me once, “I have no use for the Old Testament.”  At first, I kind of understood where she was coming from – until I got serious about reading the bible.  I love how God weaves his truth about our savior, his Son Jesus, throughout the entire bible.

But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to be used for making atonement by sending it into the wilderness as a scapegoat… The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a remote place… Lev 16: 10, 21a

Here God is setting up the story for us.  He was foreshadowing the coming of Christ, by telling us exactly what Christ would do for our sins.  He carried all our sins on Himself.

Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands?
Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and the name of his son?
Tell me if you know! Prov 30:4

Here, the writer is foreshadowing the second coming and quite literally asking us if we know His name! Do you?

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 1Tim. 1:15

And here, Paul flat out explains it – Christ is our Savior.

Isn’t it just amazing?  I pray my friend will someday come to understand the truth of the entire bible, not just the New Testament.  It’s all there. God’s amazing, albeit mysterious plan.  We just have to be willing to listen to Him.

Oh Great Truth – Thank you for your Word. It gives me wisdom and courage.  It revives me, refreshes me, relieves my soul.  I love you God.  AMEN.
