Reading the litany of David’s complaints and whining doesn’t move me to action.
He moans about
- Being overwhelmed (v. 2)
- Weariness (v. 3)
- His sinful sickness (v. 5)
- Isolation (v. 8 )
- Lack of comfort or support (v. 20)
“For the Lord hears the needy…
Let the heaven and earth PRAISE Him,
The seas and everything that moves in them.” v. 32-34
Praise Him.
David’s example leads me to be honest, painfully so,
address my real need to God,
and end
withÂ
Praise.
God my Father,
Thank You for bringing me to the place where I am. If my heart grows discontent with where I am, lead me back to a place where I can rejoice and be satisfied in You, and not in my circumstances.
I will praise You today because You are my salvation. I also know that before You offer salvation, You allow a period of trial and discomfort. For You did not spare David, nor did You spare Your own son.
Thank You for the discomforts that make me more like Him. What a joy it is to be brought in as one of Your own!
I will praise You.
