“God is forever faithful!”
I’ve read those words in the bible, and other places; I’ve heard many a pastor say those words from the podium; I’ve sung those words in worship; I’ve thanked Him for being so – but I have to say, reading today’s verses I think I truly got it.
In Judges, we see God’s faithfulness when he refuses to abandon Samson (and by extension all of Israel), regardless of how flawed he was.
“But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.” Judg. 16:22
Obviously foretelling of the fact that Samson’s strength would return and he would have the final victory over his oppressors
From Jeremiah:
“I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” Jer. 29:14b
And he did just that – again staying faithful even as flawed as they were.
And even though Jesus cry’s out,
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me.” Mark 15:34b,
we know that God’s heart, though breaking, was still faithful to us. For we know that by Jesus bearing all of our sin, by being completely abandoned in the final hour, God’s faithful plan was fulfilled.
God, I am in awestruck wonder at your steadfast faithfulness; at your relentless pursuit of me, even as flawed as I am. My prayer is that I can live my life with the same level of faithfulness. Can you help me please?! I’m your forever servant! AMEN
