It wasn’t until I was a number of years into my walk with the Lord–an earnest, searching walk–that I realized there is no “safe place.” There was no circumstance, no friend, not even a hospital that will keep me safe.
Whenever anxiety, fear, uncertainty gripped me, I often looked for other things, people, places to be a source and sense of safety.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him. Psalm 91:2 (NLT)
Relationships, circumstances, perceptions can all change. But I’m grateful to be loved by a God who doesn’t change–whose love endures forever. That on my best days and worst days, He is there–my refuge, my God.
And I (am learning to) trust him.
