These are the words that I saw on the page.
“Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” he asked. 2 Kings 2:14 (NIV)
The miracle follows–the touch of the cloak in the water, the water pulling apart. There is no doubt of God’s presence.
The imagery of the lion’s den comes alive. A sleepless king waits expectantly.
When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?” Daniel 6:20.
In the psalms, words about the blessed man: righteous, steadfast, fearless, triumphant … and the poor man–seated with princes.
Words like music, this morning’s reading leaves me worshiping.
The psalms sing praise the Lord. My heart sings too.
Where now is the Lord?
He is in the pages of 2 Kings 2 commanding chariots of fire.
He is in the lion’s den, closing jaws.
He is in the majestic song of psalms–stooping down, lifting up.
He is the splendor and the mighty breath that overcomes.
Where now is the Lord? And I train my eyes daily to find him … in the good as well as the trials.
Lord, I pray that my heart would never become immune to the wonder and mystery of your miracles. I never want to approach your word with anything less than reverence. I am so very thankful for this quiet time with you.
