Exodus 25-26, Mark 1:1-22

Receive an offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him… Exodus 25:2

“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:15

But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. Hebrews 9:11-12

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 1 Corinthians 3:16

The Tabernacle, God’s desert tent.
Immanuel, God with us,
Greater and More Perfect Tabernacle,
image of invisible God in earthly tent.

Ark of the Covenant, golden mercy seat.
The Angel of the Lord, Son of David,
Christ the end of the law
for everyone that believes

Bread of presence, God’s fragrant provision.
Bread of God, True Bread from Heaven
Bread of Life for the world.
Take and eat. This is my body.

Lampstand, Branches of light in the darkness.
Messiah, Righteous Branch of Jesse,
Light from heaven, light of life,
Light of the World

Temple Curtain, Royal purple wool.
Prince of Peace, Only begotten Son,
Lamb of God who takes the sins of the world
Torn

Temples of the Holy Spirit
God within us,
Living tabernacles made perfect forever
By one sacrifice, once for all.

Tabernacle, the person of Jesus Christ.
Tabernacles, everyone that believes.
Unfasten your sandals.
Everywhere we stand is now holy ground.

I’m printing this out and tucking it away in my journal to savor it again. Beautiful.

  2. Studying symbolism in the Bible is like unwrapping a present – noticing my name on the tag and whose name knows me well enough to fill the box, what colors and textures in the bow were chosen to catch me eye, how perfectly or lovingly (not always the same) the the package was wrapped to hide the surprise inside, what anticipation is felt at the revelation of my greatest desire transformed into reality. God prepares our hearts for His greatest Gift through the anticipation of His prophecy. Savor each word.
