Ezekial 16,17; 2 Timothy 2

You grew exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty. And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God…But, you trusted in your beauty…How sick is your heart, declares the Lord God…” Ezekial 16:13-15 & 30 ESV

Is my heart sick? It has been…with unforgiveness, selfishness, bitterness, anxiety, fear. It can even be sick before I know.  It creeps up on me and catches me off guard. This is when I realize more than ever my need to remember. Remember where my heart has been and God’s faithfulness in the past…where He has brought me. My pastor says that the biggest sin in the bible is forgetfulness. I am so forgetful. I have to ask God to help me remember. But if I am honest with myself, I only want to remember the good things. Than, I will have troubling memories come to mind, sometimes when I least expect it. I know that Satan could use these to snare me if I let him…That is why I have to continually cleanse my mind with God’s truth and ask Him for understanding…

Think over what I say , for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” 2 Timothy 2:7 ESV

this is when He shows me that by remembering I can have victory…

Remember Jesus Christ risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! If we died with him, we will also love with him; If we deny him, he also will deny us; we are faithless, he remains faithful-for he cannot deny himself…God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart”2 Timothy 2:8-13; 20-26 ESV

Thank you Lord that you never forget us. That you remain faithful even when we are not.  Help me to remember so that I can live in true freedom from the things that would hold me down. Amen
