Esther 9 & 10; Revelation 14

Scripture:

Esther 10:3 For Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Ahasuerus, and he was great among the Jews and popular with the multitude of his brothers, for he sought the welfare of his people and spoke peace to all his people. (ESV)

Observation:

Mordecai was a plain man. He was the uncle of Esther. A man who hung around the King’s Court & did what was right. He took chances when the stakes were high and took the greatest risk with his daughter’s life when the Jewish nation was threatened for extinction. He wanted no attention, just to do what God called to be done.

Application:

We often think of the people who are thought well of or who are admired are those who do great things. Now although Mordecai did great things, he really did a lot of little things that amounted to a great thing that saved the entire Jewish Nation. His great heroics are in reach of any Christ-believer. We just need to do the little things everyday in obeying God and then some day they mount to a great life that has served Him well. Something we all need to strive for as we grow in Christ.

Prayer:

Father God thank you that greatness is in reach of us all as we do the simple things each day in following Jesus. Help us not to take our eyes off of Him and what He has for us to do no matter how menial or mundane those things are. We pray these things in Jesus Name, Amen.
