Gen. 12; Matt. 11; Neh. 1; Acts 11

“The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you’….So Abram left, as the Lord had told him…” (Genesis 12:1, 4, NIV)

What astounding faith! The Lord said leave…so Abram left! As simple as that. Without question, without hesitation, without wavering or asking exactly where he was headed. By faith, Abram obeyed.

Oh, for faith like that! For trust that leads to such prompt obedience. “The Lord said forgive, so Amy forgave.” “The Lord said love, so Amy loved.” “The Lord said believe, so Amy believed.”

God, thank you for examples like Abram, who took you at your word and obeyed immediately. Will you grow such a faith in me? May my ears be quick to hear your instruction, and my feet quick to obey. Amen.
