Have you ever had something that you knew was totally from God and had to share it right away?…I remember being asked to share the story of my journey with Thyroid cancer in a small group. My group leader was a prayer warrior and had prayed for me during that time. Though I was nervous, her excitement for my story, prodded me on to share. I realized in the process of sharing that I HAD to share my story of God’s faithfulness. Sharing it with others, made it not just something I went through in the past, but it helped ME remember God’s faithfulness. If I didn’t share it, than I would have missed the opportunity of showing how God worked in my life. The scary part was that I had to be vulnerable and share things to me that were ugly… feelings of doubt, anxiety, depression that I had during that time. But, letting other people share in it with me…released something inside of me to be used for God’s glory.
Abraham’s servant couldn’t eat until he told his story…
“Laban brought out food. But the man said, “I won’t eat until I tell my story.”Laban said, “Go ahead; tell us. I praised God the God of my Master Abraham who had led me straight to the door of my Master’s family to get a wife for his son.” Laban and Bethuel answered, “This is totally from God, we have no say in this matter, either Yes or No, Rebekah is yours. Take her and go; let her be the wife of your master’s son as God has made plain. When Abraham’s servant heard their decision, he bowed in worship before God.” Gen 24MSG
My words are speaking a story everyday…words spoken to my kids, husband, family, friends, strangers. God’s words – give life, hope…What are my words giving?
“Jesus turned to address the disciples and crowd…”The religious scholars and Pharisees are competent teachers in God’s law. You won’t go wrong in following their teachings or Moses. But be careful about following them. They talk a good line, but they don’t live it. They don’t take it into their hearts and live it out in their behavior. It’s all spit-and polish veneer.” Matt 23:6
Nehemiah spoke boldly with his words…
“So I spoke up and warned them about selling food on that day…I confronted the leaders of Jaradeh, “What’s going on here? This evil! Profaning of the Sabbath! Isn’t this exactly what your ancestors did?” …”So I took those men to task , gave them a piece of my mind, even slapped some of them and jerked them by the hair, I made them swear to God…don’t marry your daughters to their sons….Do you call this obedience-engaging in this extensive evil, showing yourselves faithless to God by marrying foreign wives?” Neh 13:17-27MSG
Paul had words of courage & humility…
“Paul surveyed the members of the council with a steady gaze, and then said his piece, “Friends, I’ve lived with a clear conscious before God all my life, up to this very moment.” That set the Chief priest off, “He ordered his aides to slap Paul in the face, Paul shot back, “God will slap you down!” What a fake you are!”You sit there and judge me by the Law and then break the Law by ordering me slapped around!” The aides were scandalized, “How dare you talk to God’s Chief Priest like that” Paul acted surprised not knowing he was the chief priest, “He doesn’t act like it- Sorry” “Scripture does say , Don’t speak abusively to a ruler of the people.” Acts 23:1-5MSG
Most of all I want to have words of love…
Dear Jesus, May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to you. Thank you for your forgiveness when I mess up and that your mercies are new every morning. Amen
