Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3
The Scriptures are full of conflicts between people. Jeremiah versus the Babylonians. The tribe of Dan versus Micah. Paul versus the Roman government.
Problems in relationships can suck the life right out of a person. Yet in Psalms it speaks of a man blessed by his meditations on the Lord. He does not wither in the face of conflict, but is like a well watered tree, thriving, fruitful and green.
This morning I rushed through my devotional time to make an appointment. I feel like a dry brittle plant. Right now I can’t handle another chore or shoulder one more problem. I am sapped. I need to be rehydrated before I break. I must have a full measure of the living water of the Word of God. Without God there is no prosperity, because there is no life.
Pardon me while I visit the wellspring of life – Jesus.
