Exodus 38-40; Hebrews 1

Various passages in Exodus 38-40 NASB:

Then he made the altar of burnt offering . . . the tabernacle of testimony . . . the ephod,

Acacia wood, bronze, fine twisted linen, silver, gold, onyx stones, blue and purple linen, ruby, topaz, emerald, turquoise, sapphire, diamond, jacinth, agate, amethyst, beryl, onyx, and jasper

just as the Lord had commanded

water in it for washing

finished the work

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

and from Hebrews 1:

He [God] spoke long ago . . . has spoken to us

He [Jesus] is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Exodus – the building of the tabernacle. The details, the excellent workmanship, the loving labor, the set-apart-ness, the obedience, the purification, the carefully crafted beauty of it all. The anticipation of the Messiah. Saved by looking forward to the work that would be finished.

Hebrews – the fulfillment. All they had painstakingly honored that was yet to come, we have seen come in fullness. Christ finished it once and for all. And, sat down. We look back at the promise fulfilled, the love poured out, the glory magnified and stand confidently on His finished work.

Moses led the people to work, to pour out in worship. How can we help but respond in the same way and all the more as we look back at what He accomplished?

This song.

My heart, His tabernacle. Overflows every time we sing this at church.

With the same attention to detail I should seek to offer God a life that is pure, holy, set apart, the best that I have and am for Him to work in and through.

Lord God, Awesome and Holy, You finished what we could only imperfectly work toward. You completed it. Your Glory filled and fills today. May I approach in humble reverence the God of the Universe who knows my name, who calls me His. Thank you, Lord, for making a way, and bringing joy overflowing. May I praise you with every breath you grant me. ~Amen
