Nehemiah 7-9; Psalm 140; Revelation 7

Oh, come, let us adore Him.

As all adore Him in heaven, let us adore Him on earth.  John’s vision of worship in heaven inspires awe.  He writes:

“After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.  They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  And they cried in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures.  They fell down on their faces before God, saying,

“Amen!  Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever.  Amen!”

Revelation 7:9-12

And Amen.

This reminds me of the angels’ appearance to the shepherds at the time of Jesus’ birth:

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angels, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Luke 2:13-14

Of course, worship in heaven is eternal … every single day.  And may my heart have an attitude of worship every day of the year as well.

But the Advent season and ultimately Christmas Day are special.  Christ the Savior is born.  Hallelujah!

Yet I make myself crazy this time of year with the shopping, the decorating, the Pinterest crafts.  My heart inevitably shifts from a “Show Love to All Around Me Attitude” to a “Make a List and Cross Stuff Off Attitude”.  May this year be different.  This year will be a celebration of how much God loves us.  A time to REJOICE.

Glory to the newborn King!
