Genesis 24; Matthew 23; Nehemiah 13; Acts 23

O Lord, to sit in stillness before You- to read and read again- to ask for Your illumination and mercy, Your grace-

-to see Your faithfulness and goodness-

Acts 23

11 The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.” ESV

Ah Lord, how I love Paul. How I delight! What treasure You have stored here for us in the pages of Your Word. What a mind you created in such a man and what an incredible impact he had on Your Kingdom, Your mission! What quickness of thinking demonstrated in this chapter and the one before! What bold bravery! What intimacy with You as You came and strengthened him and gave courage.  I see the sharp quickness of an incredible mind, the determination of the passionate soul, the radical grace of a life captivated by You.

O Lord, may I be as consecrated unto You! May I live for You that You would anoint the faculties You have placed in me for Your glory and my fullness in You!

O consecration, like Nehemiah, O my Lord:

Nehemiah 13:22,13

22Then I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves and come and guard the gates, to keep the Sabbath day holy. Remember this also in my favor, O my God, and spare me according to the greatness of your steadfast love. ESV

The Sabbath Day and Holy. I lift my heart. Speak to me on this O Lord. Let me not be stubborn and darkened like those who cannot receive Your truth. Help me step in sync with the still small voice that is You and speak to me of Sabbath.

31 Remember me, O my God, for good. ESV

Yes Lord! Remember me for good. I pray.

Matthew 23

11 The greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. ESV

This so close to my heart in these days. So close- that the blessing comes in always going lower. Never higher. Only Jesus higher! That it is not in our outward righteousness, our law, our adornment. Adornment of works, of law, of outward clothing. Of any sort! No!  It is the inside. Clean and set apart for you. The inner well. The cup.

There is danger is lifting up. Keep me close to You O merciful Lord that I might stay small and poured out. Let the Son of Man be lifted up in and through my life.

Genesis 24

Lord, the story of Your faithful and miraculous guidance in Genesis 24 is so important, the entire tale is told twice. Twice, so we know Your perfect faithfulness and the direction of Your Hand in guiding Abraham’s servant to Rebekah, kin of his kin, and then ultimately to unite with Isaac. Help me to always attend to that which is important to You. Help me to always trust Your personal guidance in the lives of those I love. Help me to walk in faith like Abraham and his servant. Let me be comforted with Your perfect, beautiful provision as Isaac was comforted. I want to see Your faithfulness!
