I am a perpetual planner. I like to dream, set goals and make plans. But then usually something comes along that I never would have seen coming. The direction of my path changes. And I learn a little bit more about how to trust God.
Today’s readings remind me that God has a time for all things. He knows everything that has happened and everything that will happen.
Joseph recognizes that God’s hand placed him in this position at the right time.
“And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will not be plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by great deliverance.” Genesis 45:5-7
Paul waits for the time to be right to go to Rome. He knows that God has not sent him there yet and wait for God’s blessing before he goes.
“This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.” 15:22
“I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.” 15:29
After many, many years of human existence, Jesus came to save us all. After only three years of ministry, it is finished.
“At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.” Luke 15:33
“With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Luke 15: 37-38
Dear Lord, I have faith that you know what is best for all your children. I want to trust in you. I also like to make plans. Help me to be patient and wait on you. Arise in me desires to fulfill your plans, not only for myself but guide me in assisting the people around me. Amen
