Genesis 1-2; Psalm 19; Mark 1
Why do we do this? What are we spending precious time in 2018 reading and studying God’s Word. I believe the reason can be found in this first day of reading and especially in Psalm 19.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward (ESV).
When we read through this section of Psalm 19 there is great worth in studying, obeying and sharing God’s Word.
APPLICATION: What are your concerns or needs or desires in this year of 2018? What does God need to do in your life this year? In the lives of those around you? Reading through the Bible at the rate we are going to is like drinking from a fire hose. There is just so much here for us to digest in 2018. So what are those things you want to get out of this read through of God’s Word? Three is probably a good number. I’ve used that number of things in year’s past. So here are mine for 2018. I want to learn more this year about the following:
- The ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life
- The area of prayer
- Our responsibility to the poor and the topic of social justice
I don’t know what yours are, but please feel free to share them with us as we move through they year.
PRAYER: Father-God, I want to grow on your Word this year. Please give me clarity of mind as I read your Word. Give those sharing in Sixty-Six Books wisdom and direction in sharing what you have laid on our hearts. We pray these things in Jesus Name, Amen.
