Amos 4-6; 2 Thessalonians 2; Psalms 86

Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said.  Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.” (Amos 5:14-15 ESV)

The Israelites were turning away from God.  They were not remembering how good He had been to them.  Later on in the new testament, Paul is teaching the Thessalonians how important it is to hold onto the steadfastness of Christ.

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the first fruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.  To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 2:13-15 ESV)

The Psalmist echoes the sentiments of being steadfast in the Lord.

“I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.  For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.” (Psalms 86:12-13 ESV)

This summer, after attending a women’s retreat this past spring, I have been inspired to remember and write down God’s faithfulness in my life.  My testimony is much more than the moment I came to know Christ.  It is a lifetime of personal examples of His perfect care for me.  The good times and bad times alike all reflect the walk with Him. I encourage all who read this to do the same.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16 ESV)

Amen,

Kellie
