Ezra 1-2; John 4; Psalms 84-85

She simply went to fetch some water and ended up meeting Someone who changed her life.

“A woman from Samaria came to draw water.  Jesus said to her, ‘give me a drink.’  (For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food).  The Samaritan woman said to him, ‘How is is that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman from Samaria?’  (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritians).  Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, Give me a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:7-10 ESV)

She went to fetch water to drink and discovered the One who holds the living water.  And after her encounter with Him, she had to share with everyone she saw.

“Many Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.’  So when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days.  And many more believed because of His word.  They said to the woman, ‘It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for our ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the World.” (John 4:39-42 ESV)

All because one woman shared her testimony, others drew near to Him and they also believed.

“O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in You!” (Psalms 84:12 ESV)

Lord, help us to see the intimacy in this encounter between You and the woman at the well.  You knew her heart and called out her sin but there was tenderness and forgiveness.  You used her testimony, in a day in which woman were seen and not heard, to draw others to You as well, as it continues to do to this day.  ‘My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy for the living God.’ (Psalms 84:2 ESV)  Help me to use my testimony to encourage others as well.  Amen.
