“Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”

Psalms‬ ‭32:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

My first time reading through this Psalm today I read this particular verse as I always have. Forgiveness of sin comes from God. I prayed and asked Jesus into my heart when I was 6 years old. I asked Him to forgive me of my sins and I knew He would. I trusted God because my mom and dad said I could.

I have doubted a lot about God since that first prayer giving Him control of my life. I’ve grabbed control back before God gently reminded me of the trust that I so innocently gave Him all those years ago. God has proven more times than I can count that He loves me, He is for me, He is fighting for me, and He desires good for me.

Something hit me differently today. A second and third read through Psalm 32 I saw verse 5 that reads “Forgave the guilt of my sin.” God doesn’t just forgive my sins. He forgives the guilt also. You know guilt, right? That nagging reminder of the wrong that you did. The hurt that you caused. God heals that. He cares about that.

God desires to heal all of you. He forgives the sin and heals the heart. What does God want to heal in you today?

Dear God, you continue to surprise me. Thank you for being that kind of God that goes the extra mile. The kind of God that doesn’t just want to forgive our sins but heal our souls. May we receive your healing and love. Amen.
