Genesis 19-20; Psalm 1; Mark 7

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.”

Psalms‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about trust. Who do I trust? What do I trust? I trust that when I sit down on my couch that it will hold me up. I trust that when I turn the wheel of my car to the right, my car will turn right.

Do I trust the boundaries of God? Do I trust God?

Those are hard questions. I want to say an enthusiastic YES!!! But do my actions demonstrate my trust? In Genesis we read so many times when Abraham trusted God. He followed Gods leading him to unknown places. However, when he gets to Gerar he trusts himself more than God and refers to his wife Sarah as his sister. Not a big deal? It was a lie, and it demonstrated lack of trust in God.

In Psalm 1 we read of blessing that comes from trust in Gods boundaries. In Mark 7, Jesus states the following when referring to the Pharisees; “You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” (Mark‬ ‭7:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Do I trust the boundaries of God? Do I trust God?

My trust of God goes beyond believing that He can protect me and guide me. It includes that He knows the best way for me to live. He has given laws and guidelines to help me live a full life that delights in Him and glorifies Him.

Dear God, I trust you, help me when my trust is lacking. I believe that you know what is best, that you know more than I do, that you are God and I am not. May I continue to grow in my love and trust of you. Amen.
