Exodus 32-34 & Philippians 3

Today we read about two formidale men. Paul knew all about Moses, but Moses lived way before the Apostle Paul. Moses lead God’s people out of captivity and into freedom. The Apostle Paul was fighting to protect the freedoms Christ-followers had in God.

Besides their strong leadership they also had an intense desire to know God more. Moses begged to see God face-to-face and Paul want to know Him and the power of his resurrection.

Exodus 33:18, Moses said, “Please show me your glory.” And God showed Moses His glory in a limited fashion. In fact Moses wanted to see God face-to-face, but God said that would kill him.

Philippians 3:8, “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ…”

If these two men of God were so intent on knowing God and His power, how much more should that be our focus as Christ followers!?! What are you, what am I doing to get to know God in a richer and fuller way every day? Is that the focus of our spiritual lives? What can you do today to inch closer to knowing God in a deeper way? Graham Kendrick wrote a song based on Paul’s words found here in Philippians 3. I close by posting that song here. How does this song move you to action today. Lord bless you all!
