Numbers 19-21
As I read the book of Numbers I see The Lord giving the children of Israel the Law and also instructions about how to live their lives as well as well as various sacrifices they needed to practice for the forgiveness of sin..we see that in Numbers 19:9 and Numbers 19:17
I also see an account of the journey of the children of Israel to the promised land and the various experiences they had. A number of these stands out as there are lessons for me to learn.
In Numbers 20:2-5
I see the children of Israel just because of a temporary setback and a need they had, murmuring against God and forgetting all the goodness God had showed them in the past and how he delivered them from Egypt. We must not make the same mistake!! When we go though hard times we must not forget all that God has done for us in the past and that He is able to deliver us from the current hardship too.
Also in Number20:12 – I see how disobedience could be very costly!! Moses did not follow God’s instructions and it cost him leading the people to the promise land…what a shame!! We must be very careful to follow God’s instructions in His words, as if we don’t, it could cost us God’s blessings here on earth and also cost us eternity.
In Numbers20:20-21 Here I see unforgiveness from the Edomites the descendants of Esau against the Israelites(Jacob’s descendants) for the deception of Jacob when he stole his birth right. The sad part about all this is Esau actually did forgive Jacob but for some funny reason Esau’s descendants decided to hold a grudge against the Israelites Jacob’s descendants and would not help them at their time of need. The problem may have been from Esau who may not have stressed to his children that he had forgiven their Jacob their Uncle.
In Colossians 4 I see Paul giving advise to the early church about Christian living and also how he gives tidings from the brethren to the church.
I want to zoom in on Colossians 4:5 (Be wise in the way you act towards outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. NIVUK). I see Paul here encouraging the Brethren to apply wisdom when relating with people who are not Christians by ensuring they maximize every opportunity to witness Christ through their attitude and dealings with them. This is very relevant to us today as we must be in an out of season ready to show kindness, love and give Godly advise to people we meet daily as this will touch their hearts and could lead them to Christ.
In Christ
