When I read scriptures like these I am excited because it goes to show how personal God’s love for His children is and if this love is so evident in the Old Testament before Jesus died how much more in the New Testament, the new covenant between us and God!! Glory Hallelujah!!
In Deuteronomy 19:1 I see God demonstrating His love for His children by fulfilling His promise to bless them. He does this by dispossessing heathen nations of their wealth and transferring it to His beloved children the Israelites. What I have learnt from this is that as God did back then so is He doing now under the new covenant He has sealed with me through Jesus…if I love The Lord and desire to know Him more by seeking first His kingdom the wealth of the wicked as He has said in His word will be transferred over to me too.
Isn’t our God awesome and full of love and compassion for us His children!! In Deuteronomy 20:1 & Deuteronomy 20:4 God demonstrates His love for the Israelites once again by encouraging them not to be afraid when the challenges of life comes up against them in battle, for the battle is not theirs but the Lord’s and it is He who will fight their battles. I have the same assurance from God today!! I have no reason to be afraid like the rest of the world when I go through seemingly though challenges because God has my back and He will fight and win my battles if I can only trust in Him and run to Him first rather than running to man. When I run to God, He gives me wisdom to know what to do in those challenges…I learn also never to rush to take action without going to God in prayer first no matter how desperate the situation gets…like those mighty armies mention in Deuteronomy 20:1 situations may present themselves in that manner but I wont be moved by what I see or hear..instead I will run to God first!! Glory Hallelujah!!
In Luke 10 Jesus once again the fountain of all wisdom opens our eyes to what is most crucial when it comes to practical Christianity. I see Jesus here focusing on what matters most. In Luke10:19 Jesus assures me I have authority over all things through Him, so nothing the enemy throws at me can overcome me because the weapons of my warfare are not ordinary but mighty through God for the pulling down and trampling under my feet all powers of the enemy in what every form or fashion he tries to attack me. This knowledge and assurance gives me that edge and confidence that I can and will overcome every challenge that comes my way.
In Luke 10:28 Jesus in a nutshell says if I want everlasting live I need to love the Lord with all my heart and love my neighbour as myself…He also goes on to give a practical example to the Lawyer who asked him the question by saying it is those who show acts of kindness to someone in need that are actually showing true love..kind of like what Jesus does to me…the bible says I was lost in sin and Jesus reached out to me in love when I was desperate.
All glory to God…I rest my pen here till the next blog😊
In Christ🙏🏽
