Psalms 9 – 10

Sometimes when I am going through something, or I look around at what others are going through, or even watch the news, I think: “Please Help God, PLEASE!!”

But as I read Psalms 9 and 10, I am reminded to walk by faith, not by sight. I’m only seeing a glimpse of things, hearing only in part. BUT ONLY GOD has total wisdom. He knows the correct timing to step in, and He will do it, but in His timing and His wisdom, which unfortunately, His timing is not the same as my timing.

So, when it looks like the bad guys are winning and I am becoming disillusioned, I can remember that this is only temporary. One day it will all be different!

But David did not have the Bible, like we do. He did not have Jesus. So, David was struggling with what he saw:

The wicked are windbags, The swindlers have foul breath, The wicked snub God, their noses stuck high in the air. Their graffiti are scrawled on the walls: “Catch us if you can!” “God is dead.”
They care nothing for what you think; if you get in their way, they blow you off. They live (they think) a charmed life: “We can’t go wrong, this is our lucky year!”
They carry a mouthful of hexes, their tongues spit venom like adders. They hide behind ordinary people, they pounce on their victims. They mark the luckless, then wait like a hunter in a blind;
When the poor wretch wanders too close, they stab him in the back.
The hapless fool is kicked to the ground, the unlucky victim is brutally axed. He thinks God has dumped him, he’s sure that God is indifferent to his plight. (Psalms 10 4-11 The Message
)

This is a good place to interject John 10:10 MSG, which explains a lot.

A thief (Satan) is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I (Jesus) come so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.

Satan loves to keep me looking at anything but God. If he has me concentrating on the things I am going through or seeing, he has my eyes off God, and therefore I am unable to walk in God’s truth, and live a life better than I ever dreamed of.

I am able separate the physical from the spiritual, if I am willing. I am able to have joy, or peace, or love others, even when things don’t seem joyful and peaceful in the here and now. But I can choose to worship and praise God, just like David, even when I don’t understand the whys or the whats. I am able to say:

I am thanking you, God, from a full heart. I’m writing the book on your wonders. I’m whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I’m singing your song, High God.
The day my enemies turned tail and ran, they stumbled on you and fell on their faces. You took over and set everything right; you were there, taking charge.
You blow the whistle on godless nations, you throw dirty players out of the game, wipe their names right off the roster. Enemies disappear from the sidelines, their reputations trashed, their names erased from the hall of fame.
God holds the high center, He sees and sets the world’s mess right. He decides what is right for us earthlings, gives people their just deserts.
God’s a safe-house for the battered, a sanctuary during bad times. The moment you arrive, you relax; You’re never sorry you knocked.
Sing your songs to Zion-dwelling God, tell his stories to everyone you meet, How He tracks down killers yet keeps his eye on us, registers every whimper and moan.
Be kind to me, God; I’ve been kicked around long enough. Once you’ve pulled me back from the gates of death, I’ll write the book on Hallelujahs; on the corner of Main and First, I’ll hold a street meeting; I’ll be the song leader, we’ll fill the air with salvation songs. (Psalms 9:1-14 The Message)

God can be trusted with our life. If we are on His roster, we are safe and secure. If we are on the enemy’s roster, we will be trashed. I am thankful to be in God’s camp. I can relax in His promises. Which team are you on? There are only two camps to choose from. Today can be a day to turn away from the enemy’s camp and join God’s camp. Come to Jesus just as you are. Tell Jesus you believe He is God’s Son. Ask Jesus to become your Lord and Savior. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins, and ask Jesus to make you whole. Then ask Jesus to take your life and do something with it. It is that simple! Now you can have joy and peace in the midst of chaos. When you need help, just speak the name of Jesus!

Thank you, Father, that not one who comes to you asking Jesus to be their Savior will be turned away. Jesus came that ALL who believe can have life and have it to the full, even though their physical life is in disarray. Thank You for Your love, Your patience, and Your compassion. Thank You for eternal life!!! I am so glad that I knocked on your door and you answered. Jesus I can never express to you with words that explain how grateful I am that you died for my sins. You are amazing and Your love and promises are a wonderful mystery to me! In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!
