Isaiah 60:10-65:25

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.” (Isaiah 61:10-11 ESV)

Spring is not my favorite season due to allergies, but it is wonderful to watch winter slowing turn in to spring. To watch the flowers sprout and the grass to start to grow again. It is a visual sign that God makes all things once dead, to live again.

I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his compassion, according to the abundance of his steadfast love.” (Isaiah 63:7 ESV)

When I go through what I feel is like a “winter” of my life, maybe I’m a bit down or have a hard time feeling motivated, I can choose to focus my thoughts on the goodness of God and his abundant love for me.

But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8 ESV)

In the good times and the bad times, God is our potter. He is molding me into the person He wants me to become. It takes trials to make us stronger and good times to make us rejoice. May we see the beauty in it all.
