Ephesians 1:15-5:14

I hope that you will read all of the chapters listed above. There is a lot of meat in these passages. One could spend hours in Bible study digesting it all. Since I don’t have space to write about it all, I will focus on one part.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV)

Grace is unmerited favor. We have been saved because God loved us that much to save us. There was nothing we could do to earn salvation and there is nothing that we have to do to keep it. It is all grace, and it is all a gift of God.

No one can boast. None of us should be walking around thinking that we are better than other people, so that’s why we are saved. Nope it has nothing to do with us, it’s all God.

God chose us before the creation of the world, to be His chosen ones. How did we get so fortunate? We are His workmanship. He is proud to call us His children.

So this Christmas season when you’re out in the hustle and bustle of buying gifts, think of the greatest gift of all. It is Jesus that was God’s greatest gift to us.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV)
