So these scriptures give us practical instructions for daily Christian living. I have found that a lot of the different areas Christians have challenges are covered by these scriptures and if only they can submit to God’s word not only will they shine the light for the world to see but they will also enjoy their Christian walk too.
Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV admonishes us to by saying
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” …this scripture is so clear and needs no explanation and should be taken literally. We need to walk in the word, take action on the things we have learnt from His word as we have been established in every area of our lives through His word…the answers are in the bible, not in a motivational speaker, or on TV, or from some celebrity..we need to remember we are privileged as Children of God an possess enlightenment and wisdom for all situations through His word and The Holy Spirit in us who is our Teacher
Colossians 2:6, & Colossians 2:8 NKJV the word says:
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,” “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” ….so here once again we are encouraged to walk in the word of God, Jesus whom we have received by reading His word ourselves so we can spot false doctrines and false prophets. Especially now in this day and age, you need to read the word yourself and not depend on anyone. When you read the word yourself and you hear a sermon that doesn’t align with the word, no matter how “anionted” the pastor is, run a mile as the word is the final authority not a pastor who may actually miss it or make a mistake as they are all still men and women and are not perfect. Also bear in mind there are those also out to deceive God’s elect for their own selfish gains.
Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV states
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” So with that confidence that God is our source, part of God’s DNA is in us, we have good genes and we are seated in heavenly places to rule with His power over all situations, challenges, impossibilities that come our way..which is why one of my favourite scriptures is “I can do ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST who strengthens me” Hallelujah🎊🎉🥳 Glory to God!!!
Colossians 2:12-15 NKJV gives us more assurance by saying:
“buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” …our past died with Christ who died for us nailing all handwriting of requirements or judgment against us to the cross and we are resurrected with Him to a new life of conquest and victory over principalities and powers who He disarmed when He died on the cross and resurrected on the third day. We are at a position of advantage…so walk with you shoulders square and your head up for your confidence is in God not in your own abilities or in any man.
Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV helps to focus us on what matters most which is “things above” where Christ is for we are now dead to the world and our lives are hidden in Him. This is why in the remaining verses we are instructed to put to death fleshy desires like fornication, adultery, malice, wrath, filthy language and other sins the world sees as normal but we are encouraged to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. These should cut across every area of our lives including our marriage!!
We are therefore encouraged again in Colossians 3: 16-17 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another” which is exactly what we do on this website through all the blogs we post.
Then in Colossians 3:18-21 NKJV we are given practical instructions for marriage in terms of submission and love between husband and wife…it also touches on relationships between parents and their children.
1Thessalonians 1 – emphasises a demonstration of God’s power in signs and wonders through the Holy Spirit not just in word…the Holy Spirit is our personal Helper and it is through Him we can and will live our Christian life to Full capacity if we depend on Him.
I must stop here as this is probably one of my longest blogs but I believe God you have been blessed like I have been while writing it
God bless you…
In Christ’s love
