How often have you heard or prayed the prayer we find the disciples of Jesus
praying in Acts 4?
29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants
to continue to speak your word with all boldness, 30 while you stretch out your
hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy
servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were
gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and
continued to speak the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:29-31 [ESV]).
If you are like me I haven’t prayed that prayer often. I can’t remember when
the last time it was that I asked for boldness in sharing the good news of
Jesus. Now I will say that I desire to see neighbors and friends come to know
Jesus. In fact, our family listens to a daily devotional that’s comes from a
local church. The pastor was sharing about how God gives us the desires of our
hearts as we follow him. My desire has been that our neighbors would come to
know the Lord, but I haven’t prayed for boldness in sharing the best news they
could ever hear.
The disciples’ prayer was so bold and on target that the building they were
in was shaken. WOW, I have never been in a prayer meeting like that before. I
think we all have a sense that the time is becoming short. If our friends and
neighbors need to hear the gospel is now more than ever. Will you join me in
praying for our boldness in sharing the gospel? Perhaps a few buildings will
shake!
Father God, I pray that you would give me and those reading this
devotional boldness in sharing our faith with those around us. I pray that we
would all take every opportunity to share the hope we have in the Lord. We love
you and want to serve you well with great boldness. We pray these things in the
wonderful and strong name of Jesus, Amen!
