“Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Bring out of the camp the one who cursed, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him. And speak to the people of Israel, saying, Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.” (Leviticus 24:13-16 ESV)
The Lord demands our respect. Even speaking the Lord’s name improperly warrants a death sentence. This should stop us in our tracks. Watch what you say!
“On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. And the people were shouting, ‘The voice of a god, and not a man!’ Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.” (Acts 12:21-23 ESV)
The Lord deserves respect. When He does not receive it, we deserve the justice we are due. Don’t ignore His glory!
“Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind. For your steadfast love is before my eyes; and I walk in your faithfulness.” (Psalm 26:1-3 ESV)
I will choose daily to walk with integrity, giving God the honor He deserves. I will walk in confidence of God’s faithfulness. Lord, forgive me when I mess up. I am truly thankful for your daily conviction and forgiveness. Amen.
