1 Samuel 5, 6; Romans 5; Jeremiah 43; Psalm 19

You are lying!  The Lord our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to settle there.’  ~ Jeremiah 43:2

So they entered Egypt in disobedience to the Lord and went as far as Tahpanhes. ~ Jeremiah 43:7

He (Nebuchadnezzar) will come and attack Egypt, bringing death to those destined for death, captivity to those destined for captivity and the sword to those destined for the sword. ~ Jeremiah 43:11

I am always looking for guidance from the Lord in decision making regarding my life, my job, my finances and all aspects of my conduct in this life.  So often I wish I just had very clear direction, but so often it is not clear at all as to the way I should go or what I should do.  If only there were someone who could tell me what the Lord would have me do.  A prophet like Jeremiah would be helpful!

The Israelites had such a person, but in chapter 43 they clearly did not see that Jeremiah was telling them the truth from God and they paid dearly for this disbelief.

In my past (and I am sure again in my future) I have missed God’s guidance (or completely disobeyed it) and have paid the consequences.  It’s not always been a drastic consequence as with the Israelites in Jeremiah 43, but I missed out on God’s best.  It’s not always easy for me to discern what God would have me do, but in some cases, it is very clear in His Word what all Christians should do.  The Scriptures are a “playbook” for us and can assist us in the way to go when we are unsure.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope. ~ Romans 15:4

Father, illuminate Your Word for me that I may find guidance, encouragement and hope.

Judges 1; Acts 5; Jeremiah 14; Matthew 28

“But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” ~ Acts 5:39

What wisdom!  Gamaliel understood what sometimes we forget.  God is unstoppable!  He will have His way.  The unstoppable power of God was within the apostles and is within us.

So often I confine God to what I have experienced as a human even though I have seen all the amazing miracles in the Bible.  Gamaliel understood that these men were unstoppable if they were with God.  We are unstoppable!  I am reminded of a song by the David Crowder Band; We Win!

“We’re gonna shout loud; loud until the walls come down and you don’t have a chance;
It’s already done and you don’t have a chance;
We have already won!”

We have already won!

Father, instill in me that unstoppable confidence that we have already won and that all things are possible with You!  Amen

Deuteronomy 25; Psalm 116; Isaiah 52; Revelation 22

They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.” ~ Revelation 22:4

The book of Revelation has always been a difficult one for me to understand, but this chapter describing the River of Life and heaven give us a glimpse of what it is all going to be like when Jesus returns and we are brought before the throne of God.

When Moses stood before the burning bush he hid his face because was afraid to look at God.  When Jesus returns and we are in Heaven, we will see His face!

I can’t wait for that day when we will be in His presence!

“I am coming soon!”

Come, Lord Jesus, come!

Numbers 32; Psalm 77; Isaiah 24; 1 John 2

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.  ~ 1 John 2: 24

 I love reading the Bible, hearing a good sermon or listening to others share their experiences with God, but my greatest revelation; my deepest insights into the heart of God come more often when I am in the shower, riding in the car or spending time in nature.  God’s still small voice speaks to my heart and shares His wisdom, love and grace and I am so transformed.  The Holy Spirit abides and teaches me when I am quiet and willing to listen.  Oh, what joy!  Oh how he loves us and longs to share His heart with us if we’ll only be still and listen.

Thank You Lord for Your gracious love that You so want to extend to us.

Numbers 2; Psalm 36; Ecclesiastes 12; Philemon 1

“Remember now your creator in the days of your youth before the difficult days come.”
~Ecclesiastes 12:1

How often I have thought I wish I knew then what I know now and I remember how simple life was when I was a child.  Oh, to have those days back!

As a youth my days were not spent getting to know the Lord in a personal relationship.  I did not take the time when life was simpler to build my relationship with the Lord.  My relationship with Him has been built through the difficulties that He has sustained me through so that now in the good and bad times I turn to Him for guidance and comfort.  Oh, how I wish that I had also created a strong relationship with Him when times were simpler.  I may have avoided some of the scraps that I found myself in as an adult.

Through it all He is there; always faithful.

“Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.
~Psalm 36: 5-6
