2 Kings 10, 2 Kings 11, 2 Timothy 1, Hosea 2, Psalm 119:97-120

Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. 2 Kings 10:16

Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. Psalm 119:97

Our Savior Jesus Christ, Who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 2 Timothy 1:10

How can I live without the Presence of God? All five readings demonstrate and prove the intrinsic value and joyous quality of life when life is lived adhering to the Word of God! Woe to those, including me, who do NOT honor the living Lord God Almighty fully and instead worship, even slightly, anyone/thing else!! They suffer daily, and without repentance and surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ shall perish after this brief life. (James 4:7; John 10:30; John 14:6; John 3:3-5, John 3:16-21, Matthew 18:1-5; Acts 4:10-12, Matthew 5:22, Matthew 10:28, Revelation 21:6-8)

2 Kings 10                Just prior to these scenes, the LORD says to Jehu: “I have anointed you king over Israel.” 2 Kings 9:3

Jehu responds emphatically by wiping out all of his potential adversaries. Jehu states his motivation: “Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD.” v.16  Jehu has Ahab’s 70 sons (v.1-11), 42 brothers of Ahaziah, king of Judah(v.12-14), and the rest of Ahab’s family (v.15-17) all killed.

What enemies are in my midst? What strongholds, blind spots, hidden thoughts, patterns and ways which defy the LORD and are lurking to take the throne of the Lord Jesus Christ within my heart? Not people, but my own allegiances which are against the Word of God? I must hold each of these to the Truth Mirror of the Bible. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Then Jehu states deceptively, “I have a great sacrifice for Baal.” Jehu gathers all the Baal priests and worshippers together for “a solemn assembly for Baal. … and all …came” Then Jehu orders: “Go in and kill them; let no one come out!” Furthermore, “they broke down the sacred pillar of Baal, and tore down the temple of Baal and made it a refuse dump … Thus Jehu destroyed Baal from Israel.”  (v.18-28)

What do I worship? Spending time with whom? Doing what? Buying, selling, ingesting, imbibing, drugging, watching, listening, wasting time, … Are there idols, images or thoughts which are Not Christ centered or Biblical? Am I valuing my own pleasures, desires or a prideful self-image? Break those temples Lord Jesus! Reveal to me the revelry in my own heart and break my heart for what breaks Yours! I give you full reign over my heart, eyes, hands and will. Psalm 51

Jehu did a fabulous job of rooting out all the “sickness” which was against the Holy God. God noticed (as always!), “the LORD said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in doing what is right in My sight, and have done to the house of Ahab all that was in My heart, your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.” v.30

My zeal has consumed me, Because my enemies have forgotten Your words. Psalm 119:139, Numbers 25:13, Psalm 69:9, John 2:17

2 Kings 11                Meanwhile in Judah, after Ahaziah dies, his mother “arose and destroyed all the royal heirs.” v.1 But God’s remnant remained! A grandson, Joash, is hidden “in the house of the LORD for six years” while the queen mother harshly rules Judah.  “In the seventh year Jehoiada,” the LORD’s priest, “brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, and gave him the Testimony” When the queen found out, she “tore her clothes and cried out, “Treason! Treason!” and was swiftly killed.

To what do I cry “Treason! Treason!”? What crosses my line of sensibilities? What raises my hackles? Do I yell it in rebuff when someone wants me to stop being self indulgent? Do I yell it when others are involved in wrong around me? Treason to whom? To myself, my family, my culture or to my King?

“Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD, the king, and the people, that they should be the LORD’s people, … went to the temple of Baal, and tore it down. … They thoroughly broke in pieces its altars and images, … And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD. … So all the people of the land rejoiced”

What legacy am I leaving for my children? One of the Lord God Almighty or not? Eternal life or eternal death? Or is it a mixture by which a half truth is really a full lie? What high places of sin are not torn down in me so that I cannot see it in my children? Luke 6:41-42

Lord, cleanse me more and cleanse my entire family so that we all stand in worship of You 24/7/365 no matter where we are!! May the people of my household rejoice in You, their Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ All Ways!!

2 Timothy 1              What has God given to me? To you? “the genuine faith…  the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

What MUST I do about it? “do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, … for the gospel according to the power of God, … Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, … according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began”

Why? Because “our Savior Jesus Christ, Who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,”

Resolutely I agree: “I am not ashamed, for I know Whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.”

How can I do this? “Hold fast the pattern of sound words”, most specifically the Word of God.

It is impossible to live for the Lord God Almighty, the God of the Old and New Testaments, unless I am filled with His Holy Spirit. (Acts 4:31, Romans 15:13, Acts 13:52, Ephesians 5:18, John 15:26, John 16:13, Psalm 31:5, John 4:24)

Furthermore, I can feel spurned by those who live in the “mixture” of lies and truth: compromised, rationalized and excused half-belief in the Word of God. (v. 12-14) Lord Jesus, please open the eyes of their heart to Your saving death. Cause in them a desperate need for Your cleansing Blood. Make them aware that nothing else will suffice the wrath of God. (Romans 1:18, Romans 2:5, 1 Thessalonians 5:9, John 3:36, 1 Peter 1:17-21)

Hosea 2         Just like we read in the 2 Kings 10-11, the Lord God is Jealous (Exodus 34:14) for us, His people. Being double minded, unfaithful and hard hearted is unacceptable within the Covenant of Love we have by the Lord Jesus Christ (1 John 4:10).

The Lord God shows us mercy by revealing to us who we are and how we are compared to His Holiness, and then by doing something for us that we cannot do for ourselves.

Hosea 2:        Mercy is shown. … Bring charges against… Let her put away her harlotries from her sight, … And expose her, … her children, For they are the children of harlotry. … behaved shamefully.

I will hedge up your way with thorns,  And wall her in, Then she will say, ‘ I will go and return to my first husband,’

Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers,  And no one shall deliver her from My hand. I will also cause all her mirth to cease, …I will punish her For the days of the Baals to which she burned incense. … But Me she forgot,” says the LORD.

The Lord God is a Jealous God – Who loves us for our own benefit!

“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, Will bring her into the wilderness, And speak comfort to her. …  She shall sing there, As in the days of her youth,… “And it shall be, in that day,”  Says the LORD, “That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’ And no longer call Me ‘My Master,’ For I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals, And they shall be remembered by their name no more. In that day I will make a covenant ….”

“I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the LORD. And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

Psalm 119:97-120               To You, my Sovereign Lord and God!  May my heart speak this to You with no falsehood or hidden sin:

Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.

I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your Word.
For You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your Words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Therefore I hate every false way.

I am afflicted very much; Revive me, O LORD, according to Your Word.

The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts.
Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart..
I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law.

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your Word.
Depart from me, you evildoers,…

You reject all those who stray from Your statutes, or their deceit is falsehood.
My flesh trembles for fear of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments.

How I praise You my Creator, Redeemer, Lord and Father!

1 Kings 18; 1 Thessalonians 1; Ezekiel 48; Psalm 104

Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, …  and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!” 1 Kings 18

You turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God… Jesus Who delivers us from the wrath to come. 1 Thessalonians 1

Bless the LORD, O my soul!… O LORD, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions— Psalm 104

Read at – www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Kings%2018;%201Thess.1;%20Ezek.48;%20Ps.104&version=NKJV

1 Kings 18                Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!” v. 38-39

Elijah’s identity was marked by God’s Mount Carmel Victory! Elijah stood for the Lord God Almighty and against the false god and idol of Baal. God’s majesty and sovereignty were magnificently displayed because Elijah took a bold stand. The God of the Bible was honored!

We as new-creation believers (2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Peter 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5:20) can have occurrences like these daily because we are indwelled by the Holy God (Acts 2:4; Acts 4:31; Acts 13:52; Romans 15:13; Ephesians 4:30; 2 Timothy 1:14; Isaiah 57:15; John 20:22; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38). (See the book of Acts)

What did it take for Elijah?

  • Elijah spent time with God on God’s terms (Psalm 1).
  • Elijah listened to and obeyed the living God.
  • Elijah had stalwart allegiance to the Lord God Almighty with great trust in God’s Word and Character.
  • Elijah stood firmly apart from the gods of his day. NO compromise, excuse, rationalization or people pleasing, even at the risk of losing his life by the king.
  • Elijah trusted what was not humanly possible. It would take God to accomplish this task! (1 Kings 18:30-37)

What did it take for God? Being in relationship with Elijah, meeting his needs, and joyously winning unbelievers over by displaying His Power and Glory!  (Philippians 4:19) (1 Kings 18:38)

What was the result? Rain. God reigned! The people were rejoiced and were pleased. The land was refreshed and restored. The idol worshippers and those opposed to God were vanquished. (1 Kings 18:39-46)

What does it take for me? The very same things – Purity and faithfulness to God. Keeping Jesus Christ in my sights within my heart and outward in my life. Continually bowing my heart and will before the Lord Jesus Christ, with confession and repentance of sin, learning and growing under His power and tutelage. Living joyously with praise and grateful indebtedness to the only One Who truly sees me. Doing what is not natural to my nature, but super-natural by God’s nature within me. Romans 8:1; Romans 8:5-10; Romans 8:26-27; Galatians 2:20; 1 Peter 4:6; Romans 12:1-2

Taking a stand Every Where I go and what I do! – To live speaking Truth, thinking Truth and loving Truth (John 14:6). And in that way God will reveal His magnificence to unbelievers through me and my life. (1 Corinthians 13:1)

1 Thessalonians 1             You turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God… Jesus Who delivers us from the wrath to come.

Oh the joy of being with new-creation believers (John 3:3-7; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Peter 1:23)! Those who “turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God” v.9, and whose “joy of the Holy Spirit” and ”faith toward God has gone out” v.7-8.  May I do likewise: “give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers” v.2.

Thank You Lord Jesus Christ for sending workers who give the gospel “in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance” v.5. Use me, too, my Deliverer Lord Jesus (v.10)!

Ezekiel 48                 “and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.”

Lord God Almighty, You are specific in Your directions, according to Your Good pleasure! You divided the holy land. You set apart a district just for Yourself (v.10). You order our steps and lives. May we not kick against You, but yield with contrite and glad hearts! Higher are Your ways than ours. Only by walking under and in You will I fulfill Your desires for my life and for Your glory! Please Lord Jesus Christ, make me Your delight! (1 Peter 3:15; 1 Peter 2:9; Acts 9:5; Psalm 34:18; Psalm 51:17; Isaiah 55:9; Micah 6:8; Psalm 37:4; Hebrews 11:6)

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23  NKJV

Psalm 104                 Bless the LORD, O my soul!… The earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works…. In wisdom You have made them all. … I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

O LORD my God, You are very great:are clothed with honor and majesty, cover Yourself with light, stretch out the heavens like a curtain.

My God – lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters, makes the clouds His chariot, walks on the wings of the wind, makes His angels spirits, ministers a flame of fire.

Laid the foundations of the earth, covered it with the deep, set a boundary that they may not pass over, sends the springs into the valleys; (giving) drink to every beast of the field;  Waters the hills from His upper chambers; to …bring forth food from the earth, appointed the moon for seasons;

You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth.

May the glory of the LORD endure forever; May the LORD rejoice in His works.

He looks on the earth, and it trembles; He touches the hills, and they smoke.

And who am I to not trust You to purify and sanctify my wayward child? How arrogant am I to not trust Your Holy Spirit to make new that which is not Yours. John 8:44; 2 Corinthians 5:17 – I come to You in prayer, boldly to the throne of Christ Jesus. Lord Jesus save from hell “___” and have them make You their First Love For Ever! Amen  (Revelation 2:4)

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 9:11-15

Judges 6, Acts 10, Jeremiah 19, Mark 5

And when He got into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him … and began to proclaim … all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled. Mark 5:18

Obeying God’s Word, “doubting nothing”, causes God to Change things Amazingly for His Magnificent Glory!!

 Found at: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judg.%206;%20Acts%2010;%20Jer.%2019;%20Mark%205&version=NKJV

Judges 6                   “Then the children ofIsrael did evil in the sight of the LORD. So the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven years,” leaving “ no sustenance forIsrael” So “the children ofIsrael cried out to the LORD.” Therefore “the LORD sent a prophet to the children ofIsrael”, “ …  Now “the Angel of the LORD came … and said to him, ‘The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor! …tear down the altar of Baal that your father has …and build an altar to the LORD your God …and offer a burnt sacrifice.'” and “the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon”

One man or woman of God makes ALL the difference. The whole nation is turned around because one man believes what the Lord Jesus Christ says about him: “man of valor”. Gideon trusts God more than his breeding, circumstance, & personal propensity, SO he moves beyond his fear. Gideon acts out of love, which is obedience, to God. (1 John 4:18, 1 John 5:3, Christophany)

May I be that “one man”!  May You, O Lord, make many people that “one man” so that this nation is changed into fearing You, loving and serving You, and disbanding themselves from all idols and fearing enemies weaker than You! We need to be freed from our enemies within and without, and You, Lord Jesus, are our only Hope and Deliverer.

Please open my and my Christian sibling’s eyes and hearts to our bondage to the enemy surrounding us. We have false religions in our hearts. We offer sacrifices to the baals of our day, substituting time with You for TV, music, fashion, lust, anger and worse. We sacrifice our children who You gave to us for the godofpleasure. Enable and empower me and all of us to learn from You, lean on You, and obey You since we are to be the powerful army of the Lord of Hosts. Have me wait upon You, Lord God Almighty.

Obedience to the Word of God, a heart dedicated to serve the living God, incurs Holy Spirit empowerment.

Acts 10                      God gives instructions to the gentile Cornelius. Then God separately instructs Peter, telling him to “doubt nothing”. Both men do specifically as God commands. The Consequences? Gentiles are now brought into God’s flock by God’s Hand. “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.”  Without God’s intervention and obedient people the Holy Spirit would not have fallen as it did – for Great Spiritual Fruit!!

Lord, I need to keep the main thing the main thing – You, salvation of souls from hell, and being attentive to Your Heart and Voice in my attitude, action and word every moment!

Jeremiah 19             “Thus says the LORD: I will bring such a catastrophe on this place, … Because they have forsaken Me and” … worshipped  “other gods” and “with the blood of the innocents … I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies” and “shall drive them to despair.” … “Behold, I will bring on this city and on all her towns all the doom that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their necks that they might not hear My words.”

Oh Lord! My nation, my people, my family, my self! May I not stiffen my neck to not turn toward You and Your Word!! May I and my people turn our heads toward You, away from our sins, in repentance to You!!

I have seen in my life the repercussions of my own sins against You – and they last for decades! I am grateful that You burn a desire for Your Word in my heart that I would not sin against You, and that You heal my family, friends, and more! For me You have healed, changed, delivered and done so much more in my body, soul, mind and emotion ~ May I never stop praising You, the Unfathomable!!

Consequences! Trust and Obey!!

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,  Acts 3:19

Mark 5                        “And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. …Jesus, Son of the Most High God…said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!” …  Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand)…  they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. … Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region.”

“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years,” … she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, … and said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.’”

“One of the rulers of the synagogue came … he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, ‘My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.’ … some “came saying ‘Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?’ (Jesus) “said, ‘Do not be afraid; only believe.’ And He permitted no one to follow Him except” … (others) “ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, … Immediately the girl arose and walked”

Am I afraid of the power and effect of God in my heart and life? Do I prefer money to the priceless Presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and the change He makes in my world? Should I disbelieve and mock what God has planned for Good? Should I discourage others from trusting the ALL Loving Jesus? God Forbid it!! Jesus fill me with Your Holy Spirit, that I would be Your instrument unashamed, fearless, and excellent in Your Hand my Master!! Alone for Your Glory!! Please protect, guard, fortify, and strengthen me and all Your servants Lord Jesus Christ!! I love You Lord Jesus!!
