Isaiah 33-35; 1 Corinthians 6

He puts a song in my head, and the words crowd out the worry and hurt. I don’t always know all the lyrics, but when my heart starts to sing, my entire body follows–I walk taller; I look forward; my face softens; I smile.

I read first of Assyria and the betrayal and destruction. And later within the reading–hope.

And a great road will go through that once deserted land.
It will be named the Highway of Holiness.
Evil-minded people will never travel on it.
    It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways;
    fools will never walk there.
Lions will not lurk along its course,
    nor any other ferocious beasts.
There will be no other dangers.
Only the redeemed will walk on it.
10 Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return.
    They will enter Jerusalem singing,
    crowned with everlasting joy.
Sorrow and mourning will disappear,
and they will be filled with joy and gladness. (Isaiah 35:8-10, NLT)

The song catches my attention–after passages of betrayal, destruction, mourning, this song sings out, “Honor!”

In New Testament reading, Paul corrects his audience sternly:

If you have legal disputes about such matters, why go to outside judges who are not respected by the church? I am saying this to shame you. Isn’t there anyone in all the church who is wise enough to decide these issues? But instead, one believer sues another—right in front of unbelievers!

Even to have such lawsuits with one another is a defeat for you. Why not just accept the injustice and leave it at that? Why not let yourselves be cheated? Instead, you yourselves are the ones who do wrong and cheat even your fellow believers.

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. (1 Corinthians 6:4-9, NLT)

Honor God. Honor others. Honor unity of the body of Christ.

Paul speaks against sexual sin, to honor God with the body.

19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NLT)

I think long on honor.

Father God, would my thoughts show I belong to you? Would my actions declare I am yours? Stresses, conflict, loss, betrayal, they all (viciously) distract me along the journey, trying to consume my focus, but you bring me back to you with song and joy. Lord, help me to honor you with my whole being, my whole heart, my whole life.

Though the Lord is very great and lives in heaven,
he will make Jerusalem his home of justice and righteousness.
In that day he will be your sure foundation,
providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.
The fear of the Lord will be your treasure. (Isaiah 33:5-6, NLT)

Genesis 20, Matthew 19, Nehemiah 9, Acts 19

Read at – www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Gen.%2020;%20Matt.%2019;%20Neh.%209;%20Acts%2019&version=NKJV

Genesis 20                 Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. … But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” … And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? …

So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; for the Lord had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

How Amazing is the Lord God to those He favors! You protect and orchestrate Your Will to be done through circumstances. Your Ways are not mysterious, but bold!

What a responsibility I, Your child, have in living daily to honor You, the King of kings! Tragically, I can do incredible damage, even unknowingly, when I live self-centeredly, out of fear and selfishness. Please Lord God, have me live in Fear of You Lord! Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I will not cause other people to stumble or to not know You. Let Your truth and love be my motive.

Matthew 19                 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”… they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Lord Jesus, You remind me, again, that I am “just Your child”. There is nothing and no one that I am to hold tightly to except You. Yet by my human nature, You declare that it is impossible. But by Your Holy Spirit, it IS possible for me to cling to and live for You! Please enable me to focus and fix my heart and mind on You 24/7, Lord Jesus. To please You is to be my utmost desire. To hear Your Voice and do Your Will is my delight. To rest in You so I am healed and given direction. May Your Word drown out all of the distresses in my life. And Your hope and dreams be the motivation to fulfill all that You have planned for me. Daily, step by step, until years by years, and then for eternity with You and all Your other children! Zechariah4:6, Hebrews 12:2, Matthew 14:27-33

everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:29

Nehemiah 9                The children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, and with dust on their heads …and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God … and they confessed and worshiped the Lord their God.

… “Stand up and bless the Lord your God Forever and ever! Blessed be Your glorious name, Which is exalted above all blessing and praise!” … We make a sure covenant and write it; … seal it.”

Lord God, I share their rejoicing in the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem! I rejoice because You have repaired many walls in my heart and mind with Your Word and Holy Spirit! But there are some portions of me which are tattered, torn and wounded. Where I have allowed “foreigners”, meaning influences, affections, ideas and patterns which are not of You, to influence me and they have caused me pain and, in a way, destruction. Lord Jesus, I desire Truth in my innermost parts. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” — I make a covenant with You my Lord and Master. I will serve You Lord. Psalm51:6, Psalm 139:23-24, John 13:13

Acts 19                       And it happened, … that Paul … said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”

And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Lord Jesus I have been baptized with the fire of the Holy Spirit. But presently, I suffer under being yoked with weak-believers, double minded ones. Let me not quench You, Holy Spirit!! Nor Grieve You, Holy One!! May I be bold in Truth and Wise in Love – as You grow me, as You guide me to walk a narrower path up the steep precipice by faith, daily. I am warned to Not seek comfort with man, but soothing and healing from You, Lord God, the God of Truth. Amen. Psalm31:5

It is sooo hard, so non-typical, to counter society!  But I have no choice if I want Real Joy – Tangible Hope – And a Real Future! Strengthen me Father. I am Your child.

Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. Psalm 31:5

The word of the LORD … saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” Genesis 15:1

Gen. 3; Matt. 3; Ezra 3; Acts 3

There were other trees in the garden that day. There was the tree of knowledge–its beautiful fruit, looking so delicious, and ripe and full with wisdom. There was also the tree of life. Genesis 3.

John was in the wilderness, baptizing people after they confessed their sins. He tells those watching, Pharisees and Sadducees, of God’s judgment. John baptizes with water, but tells of someone greater who baptizes with Spirit and fire. Matthew 3.

Unified for a purpose, the people come together to rebuild an altar. When the new foundation was complete, the older priests and leaders wept. Others shouted for joy. Joyful shouting and weeping mingled together, heard from a far distance. Ezra 3.

The lame will walk–leap, in fact. Healed by faith in Jesus’ name. Jesus, author of life. Acts 3.

This morning it reads like a stream of consciousness: the sinful choice in the garden, act of disobedience, knowledge of good and evil, tree of life, repentance and confession of sin, someone greater, a new foundation, faith in Jesus, the power of his name, author of life.

Scripture laid side by side, shows the single thread woven all throughout: Jesus. I see him in the tree of life. He is the someone greater, fulfilling prophecy. A new foundation. Author of life.

That is my biggest takeaway from reading today. Author of life.

Lord, I have searched and longed and hungered for the very thing you came to give: abundant life–found in you.

Zechariah 1, Zechariah 2, Zechariah 3, Zechariah 4, 3 John 1

Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the LORD of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the LORD of hosts. “Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.”’ Zechariah 1:3-4

For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:3-4

Zechariah 1                 The Angel of the Lord answered “I am zealous for Jerusalem” v.14

I am so grateful Lord that You are zealous and jealous (1) FOR Your people. I am one of Your people because of Your Son’s, the Lord Jesus Christ, Atonement. (2)

Righteous and merciful is Your Word my Lord God! (3) You are Accurate in Your warning to me. You urge me because You want to relent on the judgment which is due because of my selfish or man pleasing thoughts, words, actions and attitudes! You command me to repent and live for You so I do not to waste my words, actions or any part of me – and instead use all of me under You – Who IS Authority. (4) Thank You for Your Mercy in speaking with me!! While there is no condemnation for me in Christ Jesus, You created me to honor and worship You with my life. (5)

Lord God, I fear You because You are Great. You communicate boldly:

Zechariah 2              – Then I raised my eyes and said, “Where are you going?” – “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length. – ‘For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’” – For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

Zechariah 3              –  Then he showed me – the Angel of the Lord and Satan standing at His right hand to oppose Him. And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord Who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire? – “Says the Lord of hosts, ‘And I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.”  (6)

Zechariah 4              –  Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” Says the Lord of hosts. – he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”  (7)

You speak for my benefit! You place a protective wall around me, who fears You. I am the apple of Your eye. You rebuke my accusers (8). You took all of my iniquity away in one day! The day I accepted the crucifixion of Jesus Christ for myself! Whom then should I fear? (9) No one by You. All-Loving God, You did it by Your Holy Spirit, not by any of my works. You are my Foundation and very sure reward! I am no different than any other person born again by the Blood of Jesus! Lord God be praised!! And there are multitudes of us presently on the earth! You protect our very souls, mind and spirit until we meet you in Heaven! (10)

But not so for the other multitudes who refute You, ignore You, and despise You with their hearts, minds and lives. I, too, was Your enemy before You changed me. (11)

For those who do not repent (Zechariah 1:3-4) Zechariah 1-4 says:

“Your fathers, where are they? Yet surely My words and My statutes, Which I commanded My servants the prophets, Did they not overtake your fathers?” “So they returned and said: ‘Just as the Lord of hosts determined to do to us, According to our ways and according to our deeds, So He has dealt with us.’” (12)

I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease; – For I was a little angry, And they helped—but with evil intent.”

“Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. And I said, “What are these coming to do?” – So he said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but the craftsmen are coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns of the nations that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.” – For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you – For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.”

No one can escape Your view or Your Hand, Lord God. We each must give an account to You. (13)

“They are the eyes of the Lord, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.” Zechariah 4:10

God my Father, when I consider the current news, national and international, the cultures’ patterns and people’s words which defy Your Word, it awakens me to the pervasive, destructive, degrading, perverted and sickening effect of sin from each individual onto all others. Worldwide every kind of crime is enacted within the ‘gangs’ of bullies; whether they are a part of a corrupt government, company or within organizations of all types, and even within families. It can be overwhelming and make me feel sick inside. Yet Your Word stands firm, It never changes and it Will accomplish all that You say! (14)

3 John 1        For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God. (v.3-4,11)

Yet I rejoice and am grateful, relieved and strengthened by the sharp contrast of the words and actions of Your numerous followers, Lord Jesus! Everywhere, in the midst of rebellious families, wayward organizations and deceptive companies and governments – Your people stand Firm and Bright. Oh what Glory You receive! Please continue to faithfully, lavishly pour out Your Zechariah 1-4 blessings on them since they incur intense rejection and pain due to their faithfulness to You, Lord Jesus Christ. Their perpetrators do not know that it is really You, Lord Jesus, Who they are disdaining. (15)

No one can have the last word but You Omnipotent God! No one can out last You Ever! satan and his demons are powerless against You. They know You and shudder (James 2:19) in fear! Lord God, please send workers into the harvest field, pour out Your Holy Spirit to soften and regenerate those who are heading to hell so they will repent to You and not suffer eternal torment. Lord Jesus, Magnify and Glorify Yourself over the whole earth! (16)

“They are the eyes of the Lord, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.” Zech 4:10

Psalm 123, Psalm 124, Psalm 125, 2 Thessalonians 3

Our soul is exceedingly filled With the scorn of those who are at ease, With the contempt of the proud. Psalm 123:4

When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us; Psalm 124:2-3

Even from those “who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.” 2 Thessalonians 3:11

 Read – http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ps%20123,124,125;%202Thes3&version=NKJV

This is the pain I sometimes feel when people, close and far, are being lazy, selfish, wasting time and hard against God’s agenda and the things of the Lord Jesus Christ, “for not all have faith.”

At times I wonder, am I working hard enough? Am I keeping on Jesus’ agenda? Am I bringing enough glory to our Lord Jesus Christ? Can I do more for my Master Jesus according to His Word by His Holy Spirit? 1 “to whom much is given, from him much will be required” 2

Jesus didn’t call me to be lazy or apathetic in my walk with Him, but to follow close after His Heels. Jesus of Nazareth was a mover and shaker for 3 years by being intensely connected in prayer with His Father, Who is my Father. 1

“So our eyes look to the Lord our God, Until He has mercy on us“ and He gives us His Wisdom, Perspective and Power to have His “will be done On earth as it is in heaven”. I need it every moment. 1

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side…Blessed be the Lord…not given us as prey to their teeth. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.  Psalm 124:1, 6, 8

Using Jesus’ Vision Glasses, I can overlook what is NOT my mission field, I can pray for them all the same, and then move with diligence into the strategic areas my Commander Jesus has laid out for me for His Handiwork to be done.

By the Lord Jesus’ training me and being aware that “the scepter of wickedness shall not rest” during my lifetime, I know that – “Those who trust in the Lord …cannot be moved, but abides forever.”

Dear Reader, Would you please pray for me, yourself, and everyone in God’s Army “that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified“?

Jesus, I am glad You dwell within me. 3 You knew it would take that much to make me be able to obey You, out of gratitude and love. Without Your Presence, Word and Holy Spirit, I can do nothing. 1

But the Lord is faithful, Who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Jesus, as I “withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to” the Word of God, only as You lead I shall lovingly “admonish him as a brother” and trust it really is Your work by Your Holy Spirit to change his/her heart for You and Your Good purposes. Please awaken the Body of Christ so they will feed on Your Word and You will accomplish many good things through them and be Glorified for before You return.

Thank You for Your encouragement Jesus of Nazareth. I need it so I will “not grow weary in doing good.”  Lord Jesus, I Love You, I Adore You and I Worship You, Forever!  – For Your purpose and glory alone!!
