Proverbs 19-21; Acts 3

The wisdom of God is such a beautiful thing;  I long for it, count on it and hold tight to it because I know that is something that is not inherently in my nature.  Searching for God and His wisdom is why I get my nose in the Bible regularly.  This isn’t because I have my act together… far from it.  It’s because I desperately need to know God’s ways.  I continue to be amazed at how He wants me know Him and enjoy his wisdom.  He delights in this Sinner!  His Word  serves as an anchor this boat depends upon in all kinds of seas.

Proverbs can seem like a Believer’s checklist at times:  how not to be a nag,  foolish, angry, rash and  how to be a diligent, listen and how to be a good steward of my numbered days.  Read in the light of the New Testament,  Proverb’s encouragement to grow in wisdom becomes all the more richer:

The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure;  then peace loving, submissive,  full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.  James 3:17

The full beauty of God’s wisdom is found in the one I am learning to love more and more…Jesus and he never pushes me away, even when I am far from wise.  He asks me to draw closer, lean into and learn from Him:

… so that they may know the mystery of God, namely Jesus Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.    Colossians 2:3

God longs to show me those mysteries “hidden in Christ.” I thank Jesus that He continues to call me to come and learn from Him.  His patience and gentle mercies open up those stuffy places inside of me and transforms fear, shame and guilt into joy, freedom and forgiveness.  I long to be more like Him and think like Him.  May it be so.

I Samuel 20; I Corinthians 2; Lamentations 5; Psalms 36

Left to my own devices, I march about the day as the big game changer. I,  Kathy Luehman make things happen. I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I am maker of meals, healer of wounds, payer of bills, road warrior… the list goes on. But God, in his  mercy and infinite grace kindly takes me off my throne and seats me where I can get a much better view of life as it really is. He invites me into the mystery of his grace at work in a beloved sin wracked world. He plants the seed of hope deep in the heart. Because of his great love and delight in us, we become part of this mystery.

We speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.  None of the rulers of this age understood it for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.  However, as it is written:  No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him, but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.  I Corinthians 2:7-10

So today, I step away from the busyness of life to revel and bask in that secret wisdom God has called me into. May I treasure this privilege always.

A song to listen to and celebrate if you like:
