2 Kings 12; 2 Tim 2; Hosea 3&4; Psalm 119:121-144

Joash did what pleased God for as long as he lived.  King Joash called Jehoiada the priest and the company of priests and said, “Why haven’t you renovated this sorry looking Temple?” 2 Kings 12:2&7 MSG

Joash wants to restore the temple. God is a God of restoration…

So, my son, throw yourself into this work for Christ.  If we die with Him, we’ll live with him; If we stick it out with Him, we’ll rule with Him; If we turn our backs on Him, he’ll turn His back on us; If we give up on him, he does not give up -for there’s no way He can be false to Himself.  Repeat these basic essentials over & over to God’s people. Warn them before God against pious nitpicking, which chips away at the faith. It just wears everyone out. Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple…Run away from infantile indulgence. Run after mature righteousness- faith, love, peace -joining those who are in honest and serious prayer before God.” 2 Timothy 2:1-22 MSG

“I will restore the years” He says. He is faithful, even when I am not…

Then God ordered me,”Start all over : Love your wife again…Love her the way I, God, love the Israelite people, even as they flirt and party with every God that takes their fancy.  But in time they’ll come back, these Israelites, come back looking for their God and their David-King.” Hosea 3 MSG

But, He is more concerned about restoring my heart…

Let your love dictate how you deal with me; teach me from your textbook on life. I’m your servant-help me understand what that means, the inner meaning of your instructions.  Every word you give me is a miracle word-how could I help but obey? Break open your words, let the light shine out, let ordinary people see the meaning.  Steady my steps with Your word of promise so nothing malign gets the better of me.  Even though troubles come down on me hard, your commands always gave me delight. The way you tell me to live is always right; help me understand it so I can live to the fullest.” Psalm 119:121-144 MSG

Dear Jesus, I am so grateful for times in my life where I can now look back and see how You have redeemed brokenness.  Thank you Father for your unfailing love and faithfulness. Amen

What do you want Him to restore in your life today?

Isaiah 43-44, Romans 8:1-21

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.  I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.  I have revealed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God. Isaiah 43:10-12

“This is what the Lord says—   Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last;   apart from me there is no God. Do not tremble, do not be afraid.   Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?  No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.” Isaiah 44:6,8

“Remember these things, Jacob,  for you, Israel, are my servant. I have made you, you are my servant;   Israel, I will not forget you. I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,   your sins like the morning mist. Return to me,   for I have redeemed you.”

Sing for joy, you heavens, for the Lord has done this;   shout aloud, you earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains,  you forests and all your trees, for the Lord has redeemed Jacob,  he displays his glory in Israel. Isaiah 44:21-22

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,  in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4

Whatever happened to reading and reflection?

People want their information digested and regurgitated back to them in quick digestible bits as if they were baby birds. There is too much information to go through and evaluate properly. Consequently, the evaluation of information is left to cogs turning behind faceless media acronyms. I know little about their perspective or agenda. That’s what scares me.

But we have a Savior God, who wants to redeem us.    His word is trustworthy. The things he has foretold have come true. He does not lie. His agenda is not to sell us any product. He wants us to be free from condemnation, so that we can come to Him without fear or guilt. He shares his Holy Spirit with us to show us how to live an abundant life.

The Bible is the standard by which other sources should be evaluated. Millennia have not dulled its principals. With my last breath, I will continue to quote its wisdom and set it as a guide for my life. I no longer have time to waste reading or listening to prefabricated junk.

I need time to think. Give me my Bible.
