Deuteronomy 22; Psalm 110,111; Isaiah 49; Revelation 19

I start reading quite a few “one liners” if you will, and this one catches my eye.

“Women are not to wear men’s clothing, and men are not to wear women’s clothing; the Lord your God hates people who do such things. – Deuteronomy 22:5 GNT

It caught my eye because it immediately brought to me to a place of prayer. I felt a bit like Moses standing in the gap knowing that it was my place to stand and pray for a people that needed me to care. Here is another that caused me to pray.

The Lord said to my lord,
    “Sit here at my right side
    until I put your enemies under your feet.” – Psalm 110:1  GNT

This one made me pray for myself, that I might be the person who will meet God one day, face to face, and He will know me as I am known, and see Jesus there instead of my sin.

What a sense of relief to hear His voice welcoming me with joy.

Sing, heavens! Shout for joy, earth!  Let the mountains burst into song!

The Lord will comfort his people;
    he will have pity on his suffering people.

 So the Lord answers, “Can a woman forget her own baby

and not love the child she bore?
Even if a mother should forget her child,
I will never forget you.
Jerusalem, I can never forget you!
I have written your name on the palms of my hands.

Kings will be like fathers to you;
    queens will be like mothers.
They will bow low before you and honor you;
    they will humbly show their respect for you.
Then you will know that I am the Lord;
    no one who waits for my help will be disappointed.

Then all people will know that I am the Lord,
    the one who saves you and sets you free.
They will know that I am Israel’s powerful God – Isaiah 49: 13, 15-16, 23, 26  GNT

 And the encouragement keeps coming as the work of Jesus is described so gloriously.

She has been given clean shining linen to wear.” (The linen is the good deeds of God’s people.)   Then I saw heaven open, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True; it is with justice that he judges and fights his battles. The robe he wore was covered with blood. His name is “The Word of God.”  On his robe and on his thigh was written the name: “King of kings and Lord of lords.”- Revelation 19:8, 11, 13, 16  GNT

Father, I know you when You look at me You see nothing other than the righteousness of Your Son, Jesus. May I be faithful in sharing Your plan of redemption to others who need to know. Thank You for Your Word that has never failed me. You are restoring me – thank You.

Psalms 96,97,98; Acts 17:1-15

Paul goes to Thessalonica.

² As was Paul’s custom, he went to the synagogue service, and for three Sabbaths in a row he used the Scriptures to reason with the people.

Later, he travels to Berea.

¹¹ And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

He tells them what earth, sea, fields, and crops already knew.

Psalm 96:

¹¹ Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice!
Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!
¹² Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy!
Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise

Life in exclamation: Jesus is Lord.

² Sing to the Lord; praise his name.
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
³ Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.
Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.

Some people have an undeniable gift for evangelism.

I got to know a woman recently who is gifted this way. Nearly every story she tells, she will tell you whether or not the people in it are believers.

“How do you know if they are believers?” I asked. “Do you ask them?”

“Yes,” she said. “Because I may not ever see them again.”

Like a crop in the field, her love bursts with joy.

I am not so bold in my daily travels, like her, or Paul. But I do hope that my love for Him is palpable and evident in how I live–like the rustle of a tree in the forest, or the crashing of waves against the shore … a life that can’t contain praise.

⁵ But some of the Jews were jealous, so they gathered some troublemakers from the marketplace to form a mob and start a riot. They attacked the home of Jason, searching for Paul and Silas so they could drag them out to the crowd. ⁶ Not finding them there, they dragged out Jason and some of the other believers instead and took them before the city council. “Paul and Silas have caused trouble all over the world,” they shouted, “and now they are here disturbing our city, too. ⁷ And Jason has welcomed them into his home. They are all guilty of treason against Caesar, for they profess allegiance to another king, named Jesus.”

Lord, what does my life speak of you? Who do I resemble: the world or you? Would someone have to ask me if I’m a believer? Would they notice me in the crowd?
